Kenosha County staff reported two Youth & Government participants fell short of the county‑board attendance requirement for graduation. Camille Carlson, the county’s positive youth development educator with UW–Madison Extension, told the committee one youth attended roughly 66.6% of required county‑board meetings and the other attended about 33% and that follow‑up contact had been limited.
Committee members discussed whether to make an exception. Carlson said one youth reported email access problems; the other had not responded to outreach. The committee considered an amendment to remove both names from the graduation list and then vote on the amended list. The amendment was seconded and passed by voice vote; the committee then approved the corrected list.
Staff suggested possible alternatives (watching a meeting recording and completing a reflection) but the committee’s action removed the two candidates from the list for the upcoming certificate ceremony.
