Hope Mills manager lists events and openings; new officer Labreta McBride sworn in

The town manager used the manager’s report to list several community items: the incoming board’s inauguration is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.; the town held a Veterans Day ceremony attended by Congressman Richard Hudson and Representative Francis Jackson; and Caribou Coffee planned a public opening on Nov. 19 and a Chamber-sponsored ribbon cutting on Nov. 21.
The manager also noted park and recreation events, including a Thanksgiving community give-back with food, haircuts and clothing distribution at the municipal park, and an updated basketball-court mural and resurfacing coordinated with community partners.
Separately, the board administered the oath to Labreta McBride. The chief introduced McBride as having 14 years of law-enforcement experience, most recently with the county sheriff’s office, and noted she will serve in patrol with potential detective duties in the future. During the oath McBride pledged to “support and maintain the constitution and law of the United States and the constitution and laws of North Carolina” and to “faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of my office.”
The manager also mentioned an expected earlier-than-anticipated opening of route 295 though no official date was given.
