Town manager highlights Hope Mills land-use plan kickoff, events and proclaims Nov. 11 Veterans Day ceremony

The town manager said Cumberland County Planning and Inspections led a kickoff meeting on Oct. 28 for the Hope Mills area land use plan and described the effort as "about a 9-month process" aimed at collecting resident feedback to guide future growth. The manager and Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Kenwana McCrae urged residents to complete an online survey, saying it takes under 10 minutes and will remain open through the end of the year.
The manager's report also listed community events and programs: a Nov. 7 barbecue fundraiser at the John W. Hodes Public Safety Center, a chili cookoff (noted as taking place Nov. 8), winter athletics registration, a Thanksgiving luncheon, letters to Santa and the town Christmas parade scheduled for Dec. 6 at 5 p.m.
During presentations, Mayor Jesse Bellflower read a proclamation designating Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, as Veterans Day for the town and announced the town's Veterans Day ceremony will take place in the gym at 3 p.m., in partnership with VFW Post and Commander Jim Morris. The proclamation recognized the service of veterans and urged citizens to attend the ceremony.
Town staff also noted recent local programming successes including a graduation of the Elevate Hope Meals small-business initiative and guest involvement by Secretary of State Elaine Marshall at a recent event tied to the program.
