The Town of Hope Mills honored Commissioner Jerry Le during its Nov. 3 Board of Commissioners meeting, and Le used the occasion to thank colleagues and neighbors for their support.
"Again, I want to thank everyone who was here to help honor me tonight," Le said, accepting the tribute and encouraging residents to vote the following day. He told the board his name would not appear on the ballot and that his last official meeting will be Dec. 1.
Board members praised Le's decades of service and mentorship. Mayor Jesse Bellflower and multiple commissioners noted signs and a dedication at the ball fields that carry Le's name, and colleagues spoke about the long-standing professional relationships he formed while serving on the board and related bodies.
The meeting included other acknowledgments and community updates, but the tribute to Le and his announced departure were central moments for the board at this session.
