Board approves Project Lead The Way training and awards facilities master-plan contract

Project Lead The Way: District staff described the STEM curriculum package and teacher training to be purchased for grades 5–8. The program will provide foundation-of-design coursework in grades 5–6, systems and coding topics in grade 7 (automation, robotics, app creators) and a real-world application capstone in grade 8. Staff said training and curricular materials will support the district’s effort to grow STEM Academy enrollment by 33 students per year and to align pathways into high-school CTE programs. Trustees voted to approve the agreement (motion and second recorded; board voiced approval).
Facilities master plan: Staff reported that an RFP process produced seven proposals and that DC Architects was the lowest responsible proposer. During the presentation, staff stated the base fee in the service agreement as a lump-sum $137,500 and described an anticipated timeline of roughly 10–12 weeks to complete the master plan. Trustees approved the contract as presented.
Other approvals: The board approved a purchase-order listing presented in the business-services item and took routine personnel actions including provisional intern permits, certificated hires and classified hour adjustments (some hour increases were described as triggering eligibility for benefits).
Vote and next steps: Board motions for the consent items passed by voice vote with trustees recorded as in favor. Staff will return course outlines for the new STEM curriculum for future board approval and will begin the facilities master-plan kickoff work consistent with the contract timeline.
