Councilor Hines, who represents the district that contains the Soldiers Home, said meetings with developers had included assurances that moves would be limited ("two moves maximum") and that veterans would have priority in the new housing, though the development cannot be exclusively for veterans. Councilors asked for a written phasing schedule and for clarity on how subsidies will be applied so veteran households can qualify for units.
What happens next: The city manager will request and circulate a developer-produced phasing plan with subsidy and priority details and will inform the council when ground-breaking and park-restoration milestones are expected.
