At the April 6 meeting the Town Manager gave a multi‑topic update covering the pool bridge, pool fence and recreational camps and answered council questions about timing and next steps.
On the bridge, the manager said county review of the final bridge plans was underway and staff expected county permit approval in two to three weeks; construction was forecast to begin in mid‑May with timber decking completed before the pool opens. On the pool fence, county permitting required reducing a proposed 7‑ft fence to 6.5 ft or obtaining a variance; once the fence permit is approved, onsite installation is expected to take less than a week and could be done in as little as two days.
On summer recreational camps, the council decided not to adopt new town camp rules this year. Instead, council asked staff to send timely letters to both camp organizers summarizing Maryland recreational‑camp requirements and town concerns so families can make enrollment decisions; the Town Manager said the letter should be sent promptly given camps start in mid‑June.
Separately, council approved a building permit extension for the property at 541 Uppering Street after the applicants (who spoke at the meeting) said materials are onsite and completion is likely in one to two months. Council also adopted an ordinance establishing a Town Charter Day to memorialize the town charter in the code; staff corrected a typographical year error in the draft before adoption.
