Board members and staff discussed a single written comment from a restaurant operator who objected to a shortened season and to a possible fee increase. Staff said their recalculation showed the additional cost would amount to "only a couple hundred" dollars, not the $1,000 the commenter feared. Public works staff reminded restaurateurs that placing tables on sidewalks still requires outdoor-dining approval and that barriers and covers will be maintained to extend longevity.
The board said it will monitor the shortened season this year and revisit the policy if complaints rise.
