Gilbert Rosas (as presented) described progress on physical projects: water‑bottle filler installations at 28 of 34 sites this year (up from 22), increased green project applications (from nine to 28), and seven solar carport projects in development that are expected to offset 70–80% of site electrical loads. The district also reported expanded sustainability web resources and student internships in sustainability career pathways.
Trustees discussed scaling challenges for composting, recycling and site variability; staff noted the use of city and vendor partners (including municipal composting and reuse programs) and recommended gradual pilots to identify site‑specific solutions. Trustees and staff emphasized student engagement through environmental clubs and hands‑on projects as a priority for sustainability education.
