The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors voted to amend Resolution 329-2025 to explicitly list the subsidiary solar projects that supply renewable energy credits (RECs) under the county's agreement with NextEra Energy.
Steve, a county staff member, told the board the change is a housekeeping measure required by the agreement so the record shows exactly which solar facilities are providing the credits. "You'll see in your notes that there's a whole list of them," he said, adding that the portfolio includes "about eight or nine different solar projects" and that the deal yields "significant savings off our overall electric bill." The board moved, seconded and approved the amendment by voice vote.
The amendment does not alter the county's financial commitment; it simply identifies the sources of RECs tied to existing savings in the county's electricity contract with NextEra Energy. The board did not discuss changing the contract terms during the meeting.
The measure was presented as part of routine agenda business and passed without recorded opposition. The board proceeded to the next agenda item after the voice vote.
