"Pass the resolution denouncing war and all intervention," Hall said, and asked council members to tell counterparts in Columbus and Washington that "Cleveland's tax dollars need to go to our schools, our roads, and our people, not to...kill children overseas."
Paige Zottowski, a member of About Face Veterans Against the War, amplified the request and linked national military spending to unmet needs at home. Zottowski cited a national war budget figure and urged council action to prioritize housing, education and services over military engagement.
Neither Hall nor Zottowski presented a drafted ordinance for immediate council vote at the meeting; both speakers used the public-comment period to urge council support and to seek a formal city-level declaration.
Council did not take immediate action on an anti-war resolution during the session. The comments were recorded for council consideration, and speakers asked members to bring the concern formally to future deliberations.
