Staff identified two problem areas — near 15th and just north of 13th Street — and the board accepted a low bid from Suburban General at $264,950, under the village estimate of about $275,000. The contract award carried on a 4–0 roll call.
Village staff and the engineering consultant said the water-main work is timed to occur before the state’s repaving of 17th Avenue to avoid ripping up new pavement. The board did not raise substantive objections during discussion and recorded unanimous roll-call approvals for both the CDBG application and the water-main contract.
Next steps include the formal CDBG submission, anticipated grant notifications in August, and scheduling the water-main replacements to coordinate with the state repaving schedule.
