Board adopts consent agenda including $3.3M in budget adjustments and $9.48M mental health reimbursement agreement

The consent agenda included budget adjustment #12 for federal grants and restricted funds totaling $3.3 million (the largest portion a stadium budget rollover), a budget adjustment #13 to close engineer capital projects and return residual balances to road and bridge funds, and an agreement with the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board for reimbursement of mental health services at $9.48 million that covers services provided by county entities such as DDS, JFS and Juvenile Court.
The board authorized vehicle purchases for the Sheriff's Office (a Chrysler Voyager for $28,639; a 2026 Toyota Camry for $27,810; and a Toyota RAV4 for $35,180) and approved an Anderson Township Park District policing-services agreement providing $444,512 in revenue. The Job and Family Services package included bid awards and contract renewals, a $750,000 renewal with Women Helping Women for domestic violence services, a $250,000 renewal with Children's Hospital Medical Center for safe-sleep programming, and interpretation services renewals.
During discussion, Commissioner Alicia Reece raised whether replaced county vehicles could be repurposed to support a long-running community dance group (Q Kids) that lacks transportation. Jill (county staff) said many vehicles are traded in, some are sent to auction, and that donations would require a formal donation resolution and consultation with the Prosecutor's Office; staff agreed to inventory larger vans and follow up.
Commissioner Denise Driehaus asked for clarification on the mental health reimbursement item; an audience participant identified as John explained the item supports reimbursement and collaborative services for multisystem youth across county agencies and allows drawing down certain state funds where eligible.
The motion to adopt items 4-18 carried unanimously.
