Rob Gregor, Superintendent of the Yuba County Office of Education, presented an update to the Marysville Joint Unified School District board on Feb. 25 about the district's superintendent search process.
Gregor said the county office has conducted community, staff and student outreach and received about 250 anonymous survey responses that will help shape interview questions. The application period closes March 21; after vetting, the county office plans to present an initial slate of candidates (approximately eight to 10) for the board to review, with a final two to three candidates to proceed to closed-session interviews and final vetting. Candidates will be asked to sign non-disclosure agreements for confidentiality during selection, and the county office emphasized background checks and verification steps required under a new law effective in January.
Why it matters: Choosing a superintendent is the board's central executive decision and will shape district leadership during a period that includes budget reductions and labor negotiations.
