Directors press staff for a realistic IT roadmap after years of single sign‑on discussions

Directors at the Bresden Association spent a significant portion of the Committee of the Whole pressing staff for a concrete IT roadmap and realistic milestones to show progress toward single sign‑on (SSO) for members.

Several directors described SSO as an essential long‑term goal. One director with IT experience said, “SSO is necessary for this decade,” urging the board not to abandon it. Other directors responded that while they support consolidation of forward‑facing applications, SSO has not been achieved despite previous efforts and the annual plan’s language should be realistic about timing and budget impact.

Staff and directors agreed on an approach advocated by several members: elevate an overarching IT roadmap as a board‑level project and treat SSO as a multi‑year subproject with measurable intermediate steps (vendor evaluations, pilot deployments, budget requests). Staff noted prior vendor conversations (including with a vendor called Vantica) and said some front‑facing systems could be consolidated, but internal systems (for example, accounting) are tied to audits and are less likely to change rapidly.

Directors asked staff to identify which IT items are tactical versus strategic, attach metrics and expected timelines, and show associated budget estimates so the board can prioritize funding. The board did not adopt a new policy; rather, members directed staff to return with a roadmap and KPIs as part of the June follow‑up.
