Orange Village proclaims April Child Abuse Prevention Month; Canopy outlines services for abused children

Mayor Judson Klein presented a proclamation declaring April 2026 Child Abuse Prevention Month in Orange Village and recognized the Canopy Child Advocacy Center for serving local children and families during suspected abuse investigations.
The proclamation, read aloud by Klein, said the village is “committed to protecting our most valuable and ensuring children grow up safe, healthy, educated, and prepared to reach their full potential.” Klein presented the document to Canopy representative Nicolina Noetti.
Nicolina Noetti said Canopy provides a single, child-friendly forensic interview so children do not have to repeat their stories, and that a multidisciplinary team of law enforcement, child protection, medical and mental-health partners coordinates responses. “We serve children and families in our community during some of the most difficult moments of their lives,” Noetti said. “When abuse is suspected, children come to Canopy to be heard, supported, and protected in a safe, child-friendly environment.”
Noetti also emphasized Canopy’s prevention education and trauma-informed advocacy, and thanked the village for partnering to “create a community where every child is safe, supported, and able to thrive.”
The proclamation and Canopy remarks were presented during the council’s opening agenda. The village advised residents who suspect child abuse to contact the Canopy organization or local law enforcement for assistance.
