The Panama City Planning Board voted unanimously May 11 to recommend rezoning a parcel on Magnolia Avenue from neighborhood residential to neighborhood general, a change staff said would align the lot with an existing use across the street at Chautauqua Charter School.
A Panhandle Engineering representative told the board the rezoning would bring the parcel into conformity with the school's use and allow modest expansion of the existing activity. A nearby resident who attended to clarify the notice said the parcel is vacant and across the street from the school.
The board's recommendation now goes to the Panama City Commission for final action; the planning board's vote was 5-0.
Technical and site-specific considerations will be addressed during subsequent development review if a formal application follows.
