Antioch Unified accepts initial contract proposals for 2024-25 and adopts two staffing resolutions

The Antioch Unified School District Board of Education accepted initial 2024-25 negotiation proposals and approved several staffing actions during its meeting.
The board accepted the district's initial ("sunshine") proposal to the Antioch Education Association, which staff said will cover salary and benefits, Article 17 transfers and Article 11 (hours of employment). Board members moved and passed the acceptance of the proposal to begin negotiations.
The board also accepted the initial district proposal to the California School Employees Association (CSEA) covering salary and benefits and Article 13 (leaves). CSEA representative L. Sandal (second vice president, CA Chapter 85) confirmed the association had submitted paperwork related to Article 18 (grievance procedure).
On personnel items, trustees approved a new classified position description for a Transportation vehicle driver to operate smaller vehicles used for specialized student transport (often special education). The approved job description will return to the Personnel Commission for salary placement and recruitment.
In immediate-action resolutions, the board adopted Resolution 2024-2535 authorizing provisional internship permits for special-education areas and Resolution 2024-2536 authorizing instructors to teach outside of formal credential authorizations for the 2024-25 school year. Both resolutions were moved, seconded and adopted by voice vote.
All motions described above passed by voice vote during the meeting; board members directed that tentative agreements and any language changes resulting from negotiations will come back to the board for approval.
