The Transportation and Community Safety Commission approved forwarding to City Council staff’s recommendation to install an all‑way stop at the T‑intersection of Juniper Street and Eldorado Drive and to pursue corridor‑level calming measures on Juniper.
Staff said a collision diagram showed five right‑of‑way collisions at the intersection, including four left‑turn crashes from Eldorado onto southbound Juniper. The limited sight distance on the Eldorado approach met MUTCD Warrant B criteria, staff said, supporting all‑way stop control to assign right‑of‑way and reduce crash risk.
"Although the sightlines have improved after vegetation trimming, seasonal regrowth can restrict visibility again," staff said, and recommended stop‑ahead signage and pavement legends if the all‑way stop is implemented.
The package also includes edgeline striping to visually narrow travel lanes, speed‑limit pavement legends, curve‑ahead warning signs and other low‑cost calming features; staff noted that the previously approved AB 382 school‑zone changes would complement corridor measures near schools.
The commission approved forwarding the all‑way stop and corridor recommendations to City Council (vote recorded as 5-0). Staff will prepare the stop‑sign schedule update and proceed with standard work orders for the corridor treatments.
