Nicole Siny, who oversees school‑age programs, described a 30‑minute, research‑based literacy block that alternates skill building with interactive read‑alouds and serves students identified below grade level. Tutors pull small groups (up to 10) using school pacing guides and coordinate with teachers; early results show growing participation and plans to expand math tutoring next year.
Program partners named in the presentation included local nonprofits and service providers such as Echo Food Bank and the San Juan County Early Childhood Coalition; Save the Children staff said community outreach (resource tables, parades, food‑box distributions) helped grow enrollment. The presenters reported 28 children enrolled in home visiting districtwide and 106 children in the book‑bag exchange program; Kirtland site recruitment is set to open March 23.
