The Planning Commission voted April 9 to recommend initial I1 (Light Industrial) zoning for parcel 0200001030984, an owner-requested annexation from Allen Township filed as ZA-03-2026 by Michael D. Coal Trust.
Staff told the commission the parcel lies on the south side of County Road 212 near Mlan Drive within an existing industrial corridor where adjacent properties are zoned I1 and include distribution and industrial uses; staff said the parcel is not located in the 100-year floodplain and that the Finley land‑use plan designates the site for light industrial. Based on those factors staff recommended the I1 designation.
Engineering and fire prevention recorded no comments. A commissioner moved, seconded and the commission voted to recommend approval; the recommendation will go to City Council, which makes the ultimate zoning decision.
