Absecon reports new officer in training; mayor and staff say PBA contract language near final

The police chief said a newly hired officer began the field-training program this week. Councilman D. Rose reminded residents of community events, including a movie in the park July 12 and National Night Out on Aug. 6.
Administrator and CFO Jessica told the council that negotiators have reached agreement with the police PBA and that the remaining steps are attorney review and finalizing contract language before formal execution. She described the PBA agreement as settled in principle and said remaining edits are a formality.
No formal contract vote was taken at the meeting; staff said they would complete the final language and bring it forward as appropriate.
