Absecon City Council adopts ordinance tightening alarm-system rules

The council opened the public portion for comment; no members of the public spoke on the measure.
After a motion and second on final reading, the council approved Ordinance 17-2024 by roll call. The mayor moved for final adoption; the roll call recorded affirmative votes by Kane, Clark, Maron, Parker and Senda. The ordinance was declared adopted and will amend Chapter 114 of the Absecon City code as written on the record.
The ordinance was presented to council with a brief outline from public safety and no amendments were offered during the meeting. The Chief framed the change as a response to repeated alarm events where property owners do not make repairs and the department’s resources are repeatedly dispatched.
Next steps: the ordinance is adopted and implementation will be handled by city staff and the police department under the amended code. There was no request at the meeting for additional study or delay.
