The Franklin Township Open Space Advisory Committee elected Bob Lort chair for a one-year term and Arie Schmidt vice chair during its Jan. 20 meeting.
After an initial round of nominations and a brief discussion about postponing leadership elections because several members were absent, the committee reopened nominations. Bob Lort accepted the chair nomination and Arie Schmidt accepted the nomination for vice chair. With no further candidates, members closed nominations and elected both by acclamation.
The leadership changes take effect immediately; members said the chair will serve a one-year term and the committee will revisit leadership next year. The committee also noted several regular members were absent at the meeting and that the secretary will be asked to accept nomination at a subsequent session.
The committee moved on to its agenda items, including reports on a state-approved utility diversion and planning work for the township's open-space and recreation plan.
