Redondo Beach Educational Foundation presents $1.14 million to district for programs

Representatives of the Redondo Beach Educational Foundation presented the board with a $1.14 million check to support district programs across grade levels. Foundation leaders said the funds come from multiple fundraising efforts including an investor drive, the Sketchers walk and a golf tournament and highlighted how the grants are allocated across elementary arts and music, middle-school science camp and transportation, and high-school CTE expansion, teacher grants and AVID support.
John Neemo and other foundation trustees described nearly $120,000 in recent teacher grant requests with a $70,000 budget and said the foundation is proud to increase funding to the district this year. The foundation also noted that a favorable state proposition (referred to in the presentation as Proposition 2) could create opportunities for matching state funds if Measure S passes and the district applies for matches.
Board members accepted the gift with thanks and invited foundation representatives to pose for a photograph with board leadership. The superintendent thanked presenters and noted the foundation's support for student programs such as CTE and performing arts.
