Council approves three ordinances on first reading and several resolutions including a theater liquor license

During the May 29 agenda meeting the Beboro Council approved three ordinances on first reading and adopted multiple routine resolutions under a consent agenda.

Ordinances approved on first reading: Ordinance 2025-14C (establishing a handicap parking space at 6 Street and Station Plaza), Ordinance 2025-16C (amending Chapter 204 — Water — to correct inconsistencies), and Ordinance 2025-17C (amending Chapter 163 — Sewage and Sewer Utility — to correct inconsistencies). Each ordinance was moved, seconded and approved by roll-call vote with Miss Anderson, Mrs. Ball Miller, Mr. McCaffrey, Miss Snder and Mayor Lambert recorded as voting "yes." Resolutions on the consent agenda included: Resolution 137 (authorizing the award of a non-fair-and-open professional-services contract to Jensen Hughes for a risk assessment of the Atlantic City Electric battery storage facility), Resolution 138 (adopting the Ocean County multi-jurisdictional all-hazard mitigation plan), Resolution 140 (accepting an employee resignation), Resolution 141 (authorizing the Beach Haven Beach Patrol to hold the Queen City Bay Classic and charge a fee), Resolution 143 (approving issuance of a plenary retail consumption license with theater exception to Ocean Professional Theater Company), and Resolution 144 (acknowledging the hiring of a full-time library assistant for the Beach Haven Public Library). Council approved the consent agenda and bills as presented; the minutes recorded the board vote as unanimous.

During public comment, Steve Steiner thanked the council for the theater liquor-license outcome, saying the license will help the theater sell limited alcohol before shows and at intermission. No additional votes were taken on other items at the meeting.
