The commission introduced ordinance 06 2026 on Feb. 17, a proposed amendment to title six of the zoning code that would increase the building height limit in the B2 district from 50 feet to 60 feet, remove the limitation on the number of stories in that district, and eliminate the requirement that hotels provide 800 square feet of lot area per guest room.
The clerk read the ordinance language describing the specific changes to sections 1240.12 and 124.20. No commissioners requested discussion and the ordinance was moved, seconded and its introduction approved. Introduction is procedural and does not enact the changes; the ordinance will return for further consideration and public hearings as required by code.
City staff or planning department representatives will provide additional materials and analysis in subsequent meetings, including information about expected urban design and infrastructure implications if the changes proceed to adoption.
