The Durant City Council adopted a revised fee schedule (Resolution 2026-03) that makes several changes to recreation and facility fees and directs staff to implement the updates. Council amended a proposed security deposit for Market Square day rentals to $100 and approved the package by unanimous roll call.
Key fee changes approved: senior admission (age 65+) to the city pool will be waived (staff said the current fee is $4); a Market Square day-rental option was added with a security deposit set at $100 (amended from a smaller deposit during debate); and fees were added for CPR and lifeguard certification courses (staff cited a $175 lifeguard class fee to keep local training available and below regional alternatives). Council discussed the deposit amount and agreed $100 is an appropriate balance between access and protection for facility cleanup costs.
Separately, during a convened Durant City Utilities Authority meeting, trustees approved change order number one on the Manhole Rehabilitation Project, decreasing the contract amount by $145,922.50, and approved final payment application number 14 to close the project. Staff reported the project raised, resurfaced or replaced approximately 730 manholes and that some reduction in infiltration has been observed; remaining work and follow-ups (smoke testing to locate line infiltration) were noted as future items staff will return to the authority to recommend.
What’s next: Staff will implement the fee schedule changes through the recreation department and will present smoke-testing and any additional sewer-line work to the Utilities Authority for future authorization.
