Longview City Council approves canvass for District 3 election

The Chair called a special-called meeting of the Longview City Council to order May 13 and moved to consider the official canvass of the May 2, 2026 general election for City Council District 3.
Angie Shepherd, the city secretary, presented the results: "We have the official results from the District 3 candidates, and they are as follows," and read vote totals for each candidate — Darren Rudy Rudolph, 64 votes (12.05%); G. Floyd, 33 votes (6.21%); Brandon Smith, 196 votes (36.91%); Marlena Cooper, 160 votes (30.13%); and Brenda J. Wooldridge, 78 votes (14.69%).
The Chair then introduced a resolution to declare and accept those results and asked for a motion. The Chair moved to approve the resolution and the motion was seconded; the council took a voice vote. Shepherd vocalized "Aye," and the Chair declared that the presentation and resolution were approved.
No citizen commenters were registered for the meeting and the Chair adjourned the session after the vote.
The council record contained a voice approval of the canvass and the transcript does not record a roll-call tally of each council member's vote.
