Board reviews finance report, approves consent agenda and vendor contracts

The Board of Education heard a finance presentation that framed year-over-year revenue differences as a timing issue tied to when ad valorem (property tax) receipts were posted. The finance presenter said general fund expenditures are down by about $1 million compared with last year and that building fund revenue appears higher this year primarily because the ad valorem payment was posted in December rather than January. The presenter said the district expects roughly $600,000 in child nutrition claims to be paid after the state completes its approval and noted the district is awaiting approximately $1.5 million in federal reimbursements tied to a pending Title I application.

Following the financial review, the board considered standing resolutions and consent items, including minutes from Dec. 16, check registers and encumbrances, bond principal and interest payments, fund transfers, and four contracts. The contracts listed in the agenda were described as: Buscogi Police Department (no-cost security services for district events), Next Step Innovations (firewall renewal, with partial cost-sharing noted), Cox Data (internet service), and Green Country Behavioral Health (assessments).
