Board of Education honors teachers and support staff for student-focused service

The Board of Education recognized several teachers and support personnel for their work with students and contributions to schools. A presenter thanked Miss Galloway for exceptional dedication and mentorship, noting she ‘‘will do whatever it takes’’ to support students, including working during breaks. The presenter also highlighted Mr. Dan (with NBS) for collaborative work in special education, a kindergarten teacher identified as Minsky for creating an inviting classroom, Claudia and Garcia for consistent support across classrooms, and Whitney Davis, an office assistant at Irving, for connecting with students and families.

The recognitions were framed as examples of ‘‘building blocks’’ that prepare students for later success and were met with applause from attendees. The board’s brief recognition segment emphasized morale and community relationships rather than policy changes. The meeting then moved to routine business and the finance report.
