Perry Council approves consent agenda, CDBG drawdown and administrative appointments

Council then approved drawdown GX #15 for CDBG contract 23-HSGU-004 for $22,365 to fund work at the building at 1306 2nd Street; staff noted an open house scheduled Dec. 11 for the apartments.
Council adopted a resolution establishing the regular meeting schedule for 2026 with specific adjustments to avoid holidays (including moving the February meeting to Tuesday, Feb. 17 and adding a fiscal meeting June 30 at 9 a.m.). The council also passed a resolution appointing the Prairie Chief, the Des Moines Register and the Dallas County News as the city’s official newspapers and recommending PrairieNews.com and Raccoon Valley Radio Net for public-service announcements.
In appointments, the council reappointed Carolyn McNeel to Perry Daycare Inc. and to the Dallas County Early Childhood Education Board for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2026. Council members said vacancies remain on the airport and historic-preservation boards and encouraged interested residents to apply.
During open forum, Chief Archer promoted the department’s annual Shop with a Cop event on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the elementary school and invited volunteers to assist with gift-wrapping and distribution. The mayor also administered the oath of office to newly elected officials during the meeting.
