Hillsborough posts holiday events, volunteer drives and safety reminders; rabies clinic set for Jan. 10

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP — Officials used the Nov. 25 township update to run through upcoming seasonal events, volunteer drives and public-safety reminders.
Recreation announced the township Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 5 from 5–8 p.m. at the municipal complex, a pajama drive for families in need, and a Santa mailbox that guarantees replies to letters submitted by Dec. 7. A menorah lighting is scheduled for Dec. 21 at 4:30 p.m.
The Hillsborough Health Department will sponsor a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats on Jan. 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon, the update said. Officials also highlighted community collections: the Hillsborough PBA 'Stuff the Bus' event supported families in need, and a local hockey team is collecting items to send to military personnel with a collection box at the municipal building.
Township staff reminded homeowners to winterize to prevent frozen pipes and said that planned changes to grading or topography require a township engineering permit because such changes can affect adjoining properties. Officials also warned of a Morris County email scam that has sent phony invoices to planning and zoning board applicants and urged residents to be cautious.
Officials encouraged residents to check the Experience Hillsborough website for library and other December programming.
