HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP — The township recognized Austin Keith, a summer IT intern and public information officer, for winning an NJMA internship award and said officials immediately adopted his resident-facing property tax calculator for the tax assessor’s web page.
Susanna Carris, economic and business development director, said the calculator allows users to quickly estimate potential 2026 property-tax increases and was implemented to address a high volume of resident inquiries while improving staff efficiency.
The announcement framed the tool as both educational and practical: it is embedded on the tax assessor’s page and designed to provide residents with a quick estimate rather than a final, certified tax bill.
What’s next: The township said it has adopted the tool for resident use; the transcript did not specify details on the calculator’s underlying formula, whether it will be updated automatically with assessor valuations, or how accuracy will be validated.
"This unique custom tool allows users to quickly estimate their potential 2026 property tax increase," Susanna Carris said during the Nov. 25 update.
