Salisbury council approves consent agenda, greenlights two property purchases and several ordinances

The Salisbury City Council on March 30 approved its consent agenda and advanced multiple ordinances affecting property purchases, the city budget and a grant for the fire department.

Council moved to adopt the agenda and then voted by voice to approve Resolution No. 3467, described by the presenter as an amendment to the Salisbury City Council regulations and rules of order incorporating changes from two work sessions. The resolution passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.

The council then approved Ordinance No. 2984 for second reading, described as the city’s proposed purchase of improved real property at 303 Lake Street "for a public purpose." The council likewise approved Ordinance No. 2985 for second reading, the proposed purchase of improved real property at 1123 Parsons Road. Both items were advanced by voice vote.

Three ordinances were presented for first reading and approved to move forward. Ordinance No. 2986 would amend the FY2026 general fund budget to appropriate $8,834 to the Salisbury Fire Department’s operating account. Ordinance No. 2987 would accept a Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation Inc. grant of $18,358 to purchase impermeable turnout gear bags for the fire department. Ordinance No. 2988 would authorize changes to positions in the FY2026 general fund budget and authorize the mayor to amend authorized positions accordingly. All first-read items were advanced by voice vote.

All votes during the consent portion were taken by voice; the council chair indicated approval on each item and no members voiced opposition in the record. The actions will proceed to the next procedural steps appropriate for second readings or implementation.
