Committee agrees to highlight education and arts in Auburn vision statement

"I think Auburn is well positioned as the next suburb people moving up the turnpike from the Portland area," Kim said, urging that education and arts be cited to attract young families. Several members supported calling out education under both community and economy goals so training and workforce development are visible in both contexts.
Members cautioned not to overload the short goal statements with detail; instead they agreed the plan's policies and action sections would elaborate on how the goals will be implemented. The committee asked staff to incorporate a clearer phrase about arts, culture and quality education and to emphasize the plan's 10‑year time horizon before the next review.
The committee also approved subcommittee assignments to develop policy and actions tied to those goals: a Natural Environment/Community/Parks & Recreation group and a Housing/Economy/Transportation group will meet through November and December to draft recommended policies.
