Deborah (speaker 4) proposed replacing the seven-day deadline with a 10-business-day window to allow adequate review and to avoid last-minute scheduling problems during peak season. The clerk read the relevant codified text and Commissioner (speaker 4) moved to replace "no later than 7 days" with "within 10 business days of receipt of a request," a motion seconded and approved by the commission.
Supporters said the change balances timely responses for applicants with the manager's need to consult ADF&G and consider public-notice constraints. One commissioner noted the borough's ski season is short and recommended wording that accounts for weekends and holidays; another recommended using "no later than 10 business days" for clarity. The commission adopted language by voice vote and directed staff to prepare the recommended code language for assembly consideration.
The clerk and staff will draft the precise ordinance text and post it with committee backup materials for the assembly and the public ahead of the next meeting.
