Board certifies two unopposed trustees and cancels May 2 election

The Lake Dallas ISD Board of Trustees voted March 23 to accept certification of unopposed candidates and to cancel the May 2, 2026 Board election.
Mr. Monica explained that the district opened filing for the May election in January and February and received only two candidates'the incumbent Board President Stacy and Secretary Tucker. "The only candidates we received were our two incumbents, President Stacy and Secretary Tucker," he said, and recommended the board accept the certification and approve an order canceling the May election and declaring the unopposed candidates elected.
Mr. Tucker moved approval of the certification and order; Ms. Collier seconded. The board called for the vote and the motion passed unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting the board also approved a routine consent agenda by motion of Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Appleby; that motion likewise passed unanimously.
The board did not attach additional conditions to the cancellation and did not discuss alternate candidates; the action follows standard practice when only unopposed candidates file and the board certifies the results.
