Chief Campbell introduced Sammons, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2017–2022 and completed EMT and fire training at Butler Tech Fire Rescue Academy. Trustee Davis administered the oath while Sammons’s father, Randy Sammons, joined the pinning. The board applauded the new firefighter.
In routine business, trustees accepted the voluntary resignations of part‑time firefighter/EMTs Grant M. Ruey (effective April 8), Jonathan O. Hughes (effective March 31), Marissa L. Combs (effective April 17) and Andrew K. Byer (effective April 8). The board then approved conditional hires for Zachary B. McGovney and Thomas A. Trosseth as part‑time firefighter/EMTs, contingent on a voice‑stress analysis, background check, pre‑employment physical and drug testing, per the collective bargaining agreement with the Delhi Firefighters Association.
Trustees noted three of the departing part‑time staff had accepted full‑time positions with other communities and one left for educational reasons, and they praised the department’s recruiting and training. The hires and resignations were approved by voice vote.
