Boonton council approves consent agenda; one member records 'no' votes on salary items citing lack of documentation

The Boonton Town Council carried most consent-agenda items at Monday’s meeting but a council member moved to remove several salary-related resolutions from the consent agenda for individual consideration and ultimately recorded a dissenting vote on those items.

During the consent-agenda discussion the council considered Resolutions 25-150 through 25-17. One council member asked that Resolutions 25-160 through 25-164 and 25-166 be removed from the group vote and explained the objection: "your elected representatives were not able to receive any documentation related to the proposal for these increases," adding that approving pay changes without documentation did a disservice to both those receiving increases and those who were not included.

The mover’s request to remove the listed resolutions required a second but none was immediately provided; the council proceeded to the roll call and approved all items of the consent agenda except the salary resolutions the mover had singled out. During roll call the mover explicitly recorded a 'no' vote on the listed salary items; all other listed consent items were approved by majority vote.
