Council approves small budget amendments including police-vest grant, vehicle insurance recovery and sanitation repairs

Budget Amendment No. 11 records $1,750 in grant revenue from the interlocal risk management agency to reimburse $250 per vest for seven soft body armor vests purchased for the police department.
Budget Amendment No. 12 accepts $25,710.50 in insurance proceeds for a 2019 Dodge Charger that was totaled in a crash; council discussed fleet shortages and noted replacements due in July.
Budget Amendment No. 13 moves $40,000 from the general fund to cover repairs and maintenance for sanitation trucks after several recent breakdowns; staff said prior preventative maintenance was inadequate and the new public works director is implementing better upkeep.
Budget Amendment No. 14 reclassifies $68,600 in previously received Carolina Thread Trail grant revenue so the funds can be spent on project expenditures that were received in fiscal year 2023–24.
Each amendment was moved, seconded and adopted by the council during the meeting.
