The Traffic and Transportation Commission voted on March 16 to remove two commercial loading-zone spaces adjacent to the Oklahoma County Courthouse and reserve them for government-business vehicles.
Corey Hubert, Parking Services manager, told the commission the requested change aims to reduce blockages that interfere with the streetcar and impede passenger boarding. Staff advised the commission the decision to remove the loading zone is within the commission’s authority but that creating a government-business parking zone requires a city-council ordinance.
Commissioner Hail moved to approve the change; Commissioner Wyn seconded. The motion passed with five votes in favor. Staff said the reserved spaces would primarily accommodate law-enforcement and other official vehicles and would not be general public, placard‑based accessible parking unless otherwise specified.
Next steps: staff will implement the parking designation change and prepare any necessary ordinance language for city council review.
