The Roseville Joint Union High School District board approved the annual performance report and a material revision for New Pacific Charter Institutes campus "New Pacific Charter," which opened in 2022. Presenters said the charter now enrolls 134 students and serves a high percentage of students with special needs.
Paul Kefir, executive director of Pacific Charter Institute, described New Pacific as a small, project-based TK—2 school that met its enrollment targets and retained its staff between year one and year two. "We're at 134 students," he said, and he told the board roughly 36% of students at the campus receive special education services, which has required additional support and flexibility.
Eric Garber, principal at New Pacific, outlined facilities challenges and said the school will add an elementary campus in the fall and launch further academic and assessment frameworks for year three. Board members asked questions about authorization and grade scope; staff and charter representatives said the school is authorized TK—2 and expects to enroll its first ninth graders next year as part of a planned TK—2 expansion.
A board member moved to approve the annual performance report and the material revision; the motion passed on a roll call vote with four members recorded in favor and one member absent. The board recorded no public comments on the item.
The board thanked the presenters and indicated staff will follow district procedures for monitoring charter performance and material changes.
