District honors 36‑year employee Peter Lions on his retirement

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District recognized Peter (Pete) Lions at the Oct. 23 board meeting for 36 years of service in multiple district roles, from substitute custodian to senior account clerk overseeing certificated payroll.
Dr. Rick introduced Lions and recounted his long service: "Pete is the heart and soul of the district," a colleague read from prepared remarks, highlighting his institutional knowledge, generosity and the informal ways he supported staff — from holiday treats to helping answer payroll questions. Colleagues and community members applauded Lions and noted a larger celebration planned for Oct. 31.
Joan Davidson, in public comment, thanked Lions for his helpfulness. PBFA leadership and others also expressed appreciation. The board presented a certificate at the meeting and acknowledged Lions’ role as a daily resource for staff.
