The Jasper County Transportation Committee received updates on several road projects and county-funded work during its meeting.
Committee members said the S2775 project on Highway 17 between Kusachi and Richland has had county funds added to the state contract to “round out” the bid so the road can be completed once the state finishes procurement and construction. Committee members described S2715 (Pineland Highway), a roughly 1.5-mile section connecting S2775 to Highway 3, as funded by the county and awaiting state scheduling and bidding.
The committee also reported that the project behind the old hospital — where the voter registration building is located — has been approved and funded by county council and is awaiting construction scheduling. Staff noted resurfacing for three recycling centers is on the same contract and is being handled by county staff.
Committee members emphasized that the state controls the timing for projects that require state bidding and that the county has completed its funding commitments where noted. No formal votes were taken on these projects during the meeting.
The committee said it will provide updates as state bid dates or contractor schedules are set.
