Mayor Lambert honors Dr. Bob Stern and Save LBI for coastal advocacy

Lambert read the proclamation aloud, saying in part that Dr. Stern “marshaled his knowledge and passion and engineering expertise to defend the waters, wildlife, and working economy of Long Beach Island.” The text cited Save LBI’s research, public briefings and litigation strategy, including a remand of a federal Clean Air Act permit and petitions filed under NEPA and the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
The proclamation credited the coalition with advocating for a turbine-free migration corridor, conducting youth and public education programs, and mobilizing homeowners and business owners to weigh potential environmental and economic impacts. Mayor Lambert presented a plaque during the meeting; representatives of Save LBI accepted the recognition and thanked the council.
The presentation was ceremonial and did not require formal council action. Supporters in the chamber were invited forward for a photo after the reading.
