Freeman board approves consent agenda: personnel contracts, resignation and surplus Chromebooks

At its regular meeting the Freeman School Board approved the consent agenda that included meeting minutes, personnel actions and a list of surplus items to be decommissioned and sold or repurposed.

The consent agenda listed: minutes from the April 15 regular meeting and April 30 special meeting and other minutes; the resignation of junior-high volleyball coach Cammie Fransen (the board thanked her for her service); conditions of employment for Brogan Broders (summer custodial helper), Lisa Anderson (paraprofessional), Christine Smith (food-service employee), contract of Amber Bradley (junior–senior high teacher) and a 0.75-time contract for Nanette Hoefer (music teacher) for 2026–27. The board approved the consent agenda on a motion by Katie, seconded by Cody, by voice vote.

Separately, the board approved a surplus list that included Chromebooks at the end of their lifecycle for grades tied to the device cycle. Technology staff said seniors may be offered used devices for purchase (past practice was offering machines for $40) and recommended keeping 10–15 units as hot spares for loaners. The board approved the surplus-items motion on a motion by Katie and seconded by Cody.

The board also approved hiring up to two part-time summer custodial workers and one summer tech-support position at $12.25 per hour; David moved the motion and Chris seconded it. Chair noted the rate was intended to maintain parity after a recent $0.25 hourly raise for district employees.

The actions were approved by voice votes; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
