Budget committee approves several line-item transfers, including $243,000 for solid-waste equipment

Williamson County's budget committee approved a slate of routine, unanimous, voice-vote transfers on April 6, including a $243,000 capital-projects transfer to close three projects and permit the purchase of a large solid-waste machine.
Committee members moved and approved line-item transfers across several departments: a $1,000 transfer for judicial commissioners (General Sessions judges); a $590 transfer within the Chancery Court budget; a $6,600 transfer attributed to assessor Brad Coleman; $525 moved for county clerk Jeff Litby; various transfers from Kevin Benson totaling $30,000 to cover operational needs; $1,000 in community development (Mike Madison); $10,000 within IT to move part-time to overtime funds; and transfers from the sheriff's office for utilities and prisoner transport.
Phoebe, presenting the capital-projects item, said the $243,000 would close three projects and allow the county to purchase a large solid-waste machine "on wheels," which she described as not technically a road vehicle but part of the solid-waste capital request. "We have an opportunity to go ahead and purchase a ... big machine ... and save a few thousand dollars," Phoebe said.
All transfers described on the agenda were approved by voice vote and recorded as unanimous.
The committee announced it will resume budget work at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow.
