The Bell Gardens City Council unanimously approved creation of a two‑member ad hoc committee on marketing, promotions and civic engagement at its Nov. 10 meeting.
Assistant to the city manager Hila Sto presented the city’s current engagement channels — including Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, the city app and printed outreach — and shared comparative Instagram metrics gathered by staff. Sto said Bell Gardens’ account (established June 2019) showed a higher posting frequency during a recent seven‑day sample than neighboring cities and that staff track engagement through analytics tools.
Staff recommended forming a temporary advisory body of two councilmembers plus a designated staff member to guide marketing strategy, set goals and advise future public‑engagement activities. Mayor Marco Barca nominated himself and Vice Mayor Prom De La Rosa for the ad hoc; council voted 5‑0 both to approve the appointments and to adopt the authorizing resolution.
Councilmembers praised staff for social‑media work and said the ad hoc would help set goals to enhance outreach and resident participation. The resolution authorizes the ad hoc to meet as a temporary advisory body to report back to the full council.
