The commission clarified that the report should cover only complaints that fall within the commission's statutory purview. The motion to bring the item back for discussion — described at the meeting as a bifurcated approach: first a statistical/data report, then a possible deeper audit — was moved by Commissioner Perea and seconded by Commissioner Say. By roll call the commission recorded six "yes" votes and the motion carried, with Commissioner Vega noted absent.
Next steps: staff will compile the 2024 complaint data for a future meeting where the commission can review the statistics and decide whether to direct the oversight director to perform a full audit.
The commission took no additional formal action at the April meeting.
